Rosie the… Mailman?

We’ve all heard how women took up factory jobs during World War II to fill positions left vacant by men serving overseas, but rarely do we hear about the other positions women filled during the war. In 1944 these women took the place of two regular postmen at the Multnomah Post Office. They were the first instance of an all-women mail-carrying staff. Photo by Werner Raz, Postmaster.
